Kimberly Dawsey

Swim Teacher

OVERVIEW

My name is Kimberly Dawsey, and I am 33 years old. I am a Baton Rouge native, born and raised. I married my high school sweet heart 12 years ago, we have two beautiful little girls who make our family complete. 10 years ago I was in my forth year of college when I discovered what would soon become my life’s passion and career opportunity, Infant Survival Swimming. Together with the support of my family I opened my own business, now called Louisiana Swim School, where I am blessed to be able to teach infants and young children how to save themselves and survive in the water. Doing what I absolutely love each and every day brings such joy to my heart.

THE CHALLANGE:

About six and a half years ago my husband and I decided to expand our family and have one more child. We had one beautiful daughter but didn’t want her to be an only child. We began trying and after 6 months of unsuccessful attempts I sought out help from my OBGYN. I was immediately put on fertility treatments and continued down that path for two and half years. After many heart breaks and many many pounds gained I was finally able to become pregnant. Of course during this pregnancy I gained even more weight and found my self postpartum weighing 215 pounds! After many failed diet attempts, exercise regimens and many trips to my doctor later I have been diagnosed with Insulin Resistance. A disease which is making it extremely hard to loose all of my fertility and baby weight gain. I want to feel good in the skin I was given. I want to keep up with my kiddos better with out feeling winded and I want to show my daughters that with perseverance you can accomplish any goals you set your mind too.
